Section 5.1: Alcohol

The possession, consumption, distribution, or sale of alcoholic beverages on property of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne is allowable only in the context of a closed, catered event where the beverage is served by a University-approved vendor at one of the approved limited locations, when the event is approved in advance for alcoholic beverages and meets all other requirements set by the University.

  • Closed, catered event
    • "Closed" in that it is not open to anyone who just walks by
        (must be by advance personal invitation or advance paid ticket)
    • "Catered" - see next item

  • Served by university-approved alcoholic beverage vendor
    • Currently Ceruti's Catering, Goeglein's Catering, Hall's Catering, Oyster Bar, Catablu/Blu Spoon Catering.

  • Limited locations on campus
    • Reservable spaces within Walb and Williams, plus McKay Farm property, patio area between Williams and Visual Arts Building, the PIT Theatre in Kettler, SCAN Childrens Garden, Select Conference Rooms in Kettler (167, 178 and 154/156). Grassy area on the west side of Walb and the Concrete Patio area on the east side of Walb. Reservable space, excluding classrooms, in Rhinehart Music Center

  • Event approved in advance
    • A Request for Alcoholic Beverage Service (form AB-1) can be obtained from the Facility Manager
    • The AB-1 form must be completed by the personal responsible for the event and submitted to the Facility Manager for approval at least 4 weeks in advance to allow time for the caterer to obtain the appropriate permit.

  • Other miscellaneous requirements
    • Must have University sponsor
    • Have "representative" present at all times
    • Non-alcoholic beverages and food must also be available
    • Security present as deemed necessary
    • Majority of attendees are 21 years of age or older
    • Alcohol consumption is not primary purpose of event
    • Alcohol must be contained within the confines of the event
        ("confines" must be immediately discernable)

  • Payable from:
    1. Foundation funds } University sources
    2. Cash Bar } User sources
    3. Contract directly with vendor }
